Revolutionary Health Services | Dr. Charles Whitney

 Charles Whitney, M.D. with patient

“I had an abnormal chest x-ray and was very nervous. Dr. Whitney's response was immediate and he scheduled a visit to a specialist at PENN which alleviated considerable stress. He also contacted a local pulmonologist who reviewed the report. This personal service makes the practice so unique.”

Gold Program- a comprehensive medical home plus...

National Care Network

As a patient of Revolutionary Health Services, you will have access to a National Care Network of private physicians.

If a problem arises while you travel, and Dr. Whitney feels it cannot be managed over the phone, he can arrange for you to be seen by another physician in their office in the city you are visiting. Thus, you would not have to be seen at an urgent care clinic or emergency room. Most major cities are represented. An appropriate fee may be charged which is usually covered by your insurance.

Care for Family Members Visiting from Out of Town

If they are important to you, they are important to me. I will see your family members visiting from out of town in the office for minor acute medical problems at no charge.  It will save them a trip the emergency room, or the need to see a non-physician provider at a walk-in clinic.

Generic Prescriptions

We will have common generic prescriptions and OTC meds for acute problems (antibiotics, etc.) available for purchase in the office, saving you a trip to the pharmacy.

Technology

Properly used, technology in medicine improves your safety, quality of care, and makes your experience more convenient. At Revolutionary Health Services, we maximize the use of technology in all aspects of your medical care.

  • Electronic medical records (EMR): We use GenesysMD EMR. The many advantages they offer include:

1. A secure, web based EMR that allows Dr. Whitney to access your record from any Internet connection. SSL security technology is utilized, the same technology used for online banking.

2. GenesysMD is CCHIT certified.  Caution: Not all EMRs are certified, but certification is a must with literally hundreds of EMRs now available.

3. Backup is on 2 servers in each of 2 geographically separated locations. Your records are secure, even in the event of a local disaster.

4. GenesysMD is committed to producing a top quality medical record, not just to maximize billing as is the case with many EMRs.

Dr. Whitney was asked to sit on the Clinical Advisory Board of GenesysMD because of his commitment to improving the patient experience as well as his 5 years of experience using an EMR while with the University of Pennsylvania. His involvement is directly responsible for the functionality of the patient portal.

  • Patient Portal: HIPPA requirements ensure you access to your medical records. A patient portal makes that access simple. You simply log into your secure personal record from any Internet connection, including other doctors’ offices. This is a true electronic health record (EHR). Other physicians can trust its accuracy since patients can only view, not alter, the information. Personal health records (PHR) available through Google, Microsoft, and other online services are notorious for inaccuracies.  You can also request prescription refills and will receive secure messages through your portal.  Many medical practices offer flash drives containing your medical records.  These must be manually updated any time new information such as EKGs and blood work are entered in the medical record.  Your Revolutionary Health Services portal is updated immediately as information streams from your EMR to your EHR.  Flash drives are also available upon request.

  • Electronic prescriptions: E-prescribing is through Sure Scripts.  Prescriptions are sent to the pharmacy electronically during your visit and are usually available by the time you arrive. A 2006 Landmark study showed a dramatic reduction in prescribing errors when prescriptions are written electronically. Medicare requires it by 2012. We offer it now.

  • Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (BIA):  Technology that measures total body fat, visceral fat, skeletal muscle, and estimates resting metabolic rate.  It is used to help determine your ideal body weight and assess progress during a weight loss program.  Visceral fat is the "dangerous fat" that is inside your abdomen.  High levels increase your risk for diabetes and heart disease.  Resting metabolic rate is the number of calories you would burn in a 24 hour period without any activity.

  • Email and Texting: You will have Dr. Whitney's private cell phone number for convenient communication.

Visit Flexibility

We understand that busy schedules sometimes don’t allow for weekday office visits. We have evening and weekend visits available. Since we don’t rely on office visits only, phone visits are often an option, even for some illnesses.
