Bill Clement and Charles Whitney, M.D.

Bill Clement – Philadelphia Flyers and Olympic Broadcaster

"Until I discovered Dr. Charles Whitney's practice, I was convinced that championship medical treatment along with convenience, could never be found in the same medical practice. Dr. Whitney's knowledge is second to none and his bedside manner is truly remarkable. He listens!

With my travel schedule, the fact that Dr. Whitney is available by phone is extremely important. It's almost as if I have my own personal physician."

Richard Gay is a 48-year-old man who was not feeling well and assumed he had the same illness as several family members did. He sent an e-mail requesting antibiotics, but his description of symptoms did not sound like an illness. He was seen that afternoon and two days later had a stent placed to treat a coronary artery blockage. He reports:

"There is no question in my mind that with my schedule, if I needed to struggle through a phone tree to make an appointment, or wait for a few days for the appointment, I would have put this off. I may not have survived!"

– Richard Gay

Jim Brogan is a 58-year-old man who has hypertension. Despite many years of seeing a cardiologist who attempted several different medication combinations, his blood pressure remained over 170/100. After a lengthy discussion, it was evident that he had significant underlying anxiety. He is a very pleasant and kind person, but is stoic and internalizes problems. He doesn’t appear particularly anxious, but his words pointed to it. Since initiating anti-anxiety medication his blood pressures have typically run 110-130/70-80.
He sums up his experience:

"Frankly, I was resigned to the fact that I would probably have a stroke or realize some other early demise as result of my hypertension. I have probably increased my life expectancy by at least a decade."

–Jim Brogan

Jacques Cornillon was a 98 year old man in the Home Care Program. Mr. Cornillon made it clear that he would rather die than go to the hospital. Dr. Whitney was able to successfully avoid three hospitalizations when he successfully treated two flares of congestive heart failure and a mild heart attack in his home.

"Dr. Whitney respected my father and his wishes.  He tailored his treatment to the man and his family and was always there, by phone or on house calls (even on Christmas Day!), directing his care when we needed him. We were blessed that my father  was able to end his life at home, as he wished, knowing that he  was being cared for as well at home, if not better, than if he had been in a hospital."

– Margaret Cornillon Mattheson

"As a physician with years of experience in clinical practice, I am honored to write this letter as a testimony to the truly excellent medical care that Dr. Charles Whitney has provided to my family.  He is a consummate professional who combines sound clinical judgment with a sympathetic, understanding approach to patient care. I can state unequivocally that having a skilled M.D. available for medical problems as they arise is an enormous relief for patients and their families.  Dr. Whitney's clinical acumen, consistent follow-up, and reassuring bedside manner are clearly the antidote for patients feeling lost and neglected in the current healthcare system."
