Richard Gay is a 48-year-old man who was not feeling well and assumed he had the same illness as several family members did. He sent an e-mail requesting antibiotics, but his description of symptoms did not sound like an illness. Jim Brogan is a 58-year-old man who has hypertension. Despite many years of seeing a cardiologist who attempted several different medication combinations, his blood pressure remained over 170/100. After a lengthy discussion, it was evident that he had significant underlying anxiety. He is a very pleasant and kind person, but is stoic and internalizes problems. He doesn’t appear particularly anxious, but his words pointed to it. Since initiating anti-anxiety medication his blood pressures have typically run 110-130/70-80.

Dr. Whitney was able to successfully avoid three hospitalizations when he successfully treated two flares of congestive heart failure and a mild heart attack in his home.
